FBLA Member wins National Award through the Colorado Council on Economic Education: 
InvestWrite Competition through the Stock Market Game.

Whitney Sorenson of Peetz High School, recently participated in the InvestWrite contest, in addition to the Stock Market Game, in her Accounting II class.  The contest required her to write an essay explaining the stock market terms of diversity and risk, as well as her experience participating in the Stock Market Game. She was also required to devise and explain a method of investment for an immediate want and another plan for retirement savings.
Because she is a very visual and kinesthetic learner, this contest was the perfect opportunity for her to really get a grip on every most important aspect of the stock market.  Sixth place in a national competition is a huge honor, but even without the award, she has taken a lot from this experience.  Whitney now has a better understanding of the stock market and what it means to be smart in investing, as well as a newfound talent in business writing.  After her experience, she strongly encourages more business teachers to take the time to educate their students in investing in more hands on ways like participating in the Stock Market Game and InvestWrite.
Ten thousand students nationwide wrote InvestWrite essays.  Twenty-five hundred students made it past the first round of judging. About 1,250 of the 2,500 were high school aged students as the competition does go into the elementary grades.  Whitney was 6th out of those 1,250.

Colorado FBLA assists Loveland High School FBLA Adviser with a Miracle Minute.

Loveland High School adviser, Allan Baclasky was seriously injured in a recent bicycle accident and Colorado FBLA generously contributed to help him with his multitude of medical expenses through our established Colorado Relief Fund and our Miracle Minute.  Chapters held a Miracle Minute in their schools to collect as much change in one minute.  Colorado FBLA presented Allan with a check for $2,926.35.

Here are some pictures of Liberty Chapter members cleaning and donating at the Aurora Ronald McDonald House. The experience was not only inspirational, but was also a lot of fun. I recommend everyone go and spend two hours cleaning that home, it was truly moving.
